Leigha + Carson Proposal

Troy Engagement Photography

This was a first for me. Carson emailed me a couple of weeks ago to see if I could shoot him proposing to Leigha. Sounded like fun, especially when he told me that he wanted to propose in a house he just bought and wanted to surprise her with the purchase too. Day of I played the role of architect taking pictures for the renovation. Carson nailed it and Leigha said yes!

Owl's Hoot Wedding Photography

When we met with Sarah and Mike a couple weeks ago we all collectively crossed our fingers and toes in hopes of a beautiful weather day for our last wedding of the season. When we arrived at Owl’s Hoot Barn, we were met by a beautiful blue sky, sunny day. They had an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour. Despite the chill in the air, there was a whole lot of warmth from family and friends as they celebrated this amazing couple tying the knot (as well as some outdoor heaters ;).

The Venue Wedding Photography

Kelsey and Chris had a beautiful day for a wedding at the Venue as the predicted rain stayed away. The two had fun getting ready with their bridal party in the bridal suite and on site “man cave” that included the largest foosball table we’ve ever seen. The first look was one of my favorites as it included a high five, handshake, and first wedding day kiss. The two were all smiles for their ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.

Cooperstown Wedding Photography

Hunter and Miles are such a unique and fun-loving couple and their wedding day certainly exemplified that. These two knocked it out of the park when it came to making the day what they wanted it to be. A Pikachu stuffy bridal pair gift, a first look on a dock, a horse drawn carriage, a photo shoot on a carousel, and a killer omelet bar are just a few details to paint this picture.

The skies cleared up for Ashley and Brandon’s wedding, making it a beautiful day both outside and in. Everything about this wedding shouted fall beauty from the hints of changing leaves on the trees, to the bridesmaids’ gem-toned dresses, to the gorgeous arrangement of flowers. We were so happy to see that the two had an adventurous bridal party that followed us all around Revolution Hall to get some great shots.

Ashley and Bill had a wonderful wedding day filled with elegant flowers, soft dog kisses, raining bubble blasts, joyful tears, belly laughs, and killer dance moves. They had their first look in front of the river, and you would have thought they were royalty by the amount they were cheered on by passers by. We were able to get pictures in some fun spots around Revolution Hall including some unfinished spaces upstairs and the Malt Room below.

Alicia and Shaun had a wedding day as fun and warm as they are. The two (well… three, including their daughter, Ashlyn), had their first look in their beautiful backyard, which happened to be a great place to also park a firetruck for some great family shots. We were soon off to the Mansion at Cedar Hill for their ceremony where the two shared vows of commitment, while Ashlyn, commitment-personified, frolicked around in the background.

Sara and Dan may have picked the most beautiful day of the summer to celebrate their marriage. We walked around downtown Troy for photos then joined their family and friends at the Franklin Plaza. Having already gotten married on the beach earlier this summer, these two said they really just wanted a party, and that’s exactly what their rooftop reception was with delicious food, great music, and sunset views enjoyed by family and friends.

Jacob and Anthony’s Wedding Photography

If rain is indeed a sign of good luck on a wedding day, Elissa and David may be the luckiest couple we have ever had the pleasure to work with. The two had their first look on a dock on scenic Lake George just as a monsoon came rolling over the lake. These storm chasers then braved the elements for some quick photos before fleeing for dry land. They had a ceremony under a tent with close friends and family, exchanging their vows with a curtain of rain as a backdrop.

We’ve been trying to schedule Alessandra and Tyler’s engagement for a while but each time the day gets closer the weather forecast wasn’t great. Well, it looked like things were going to aling so we can get some photos at the beautiful rose garden in Schenectady’s Central Park. Wouldn’t you know that less than 20 minutes after we started it started to rain, and not just rain, down pour. That did not deter us.

Crooked Lake Wedding Photography

Emily and Brandon’s wedding day was magical. The smoke from the forest fires were quelled, the rainstorms passed, and the cottonwood trees filled the sky, making their wedding look like it took place in their own personal snow globe. The magic didn’t end there… vows exchanged about a magical love that grew from past lives, a first dance where Emily flew through the air, and a magical DJ that helped us take pictures of Emily and Brandon with every table in less time than it takes to be Rick rolled.

Ladybugs are said to be a sign of good luck. So the ones we spotted as Tatiana and Jonathan got ready for their big day, must have been working their magic because the sun was bright, the temperature was perfect, and the Hoot Owl Barn property was a picturesque backdrop for celebrating with family and friends. After the two got ready and had their first look and photos, they had a lovely ceremony with personal vows (and the sleepiest flower girl we’ve ever seen– her dad carried her while she napped and did the petal throwing for her.

Megan and Cormac had an ideal fall wedding day at the lake: the sun was bright, the lake mirrored a bright blue sky, and the trees were a crescendo of colorat every turn. The two got ready with their bridal parties just down the hall from one another at the Fort William Henry Hotel and started their big day together with a first look overlooking Lake George. There were a lot of great photo moments from a photo op in Megan’s dad’s boat, to capturing their trooper groomsman, Nick, rejoining the party after having been admitted to the ER just hours before, to a packed dance floor with some of the most committed dancers we have seen in a while.

It’s amazing what can happen in less than a year; like less than a year ago we did a maternity shoot with Sarah and Noah. And here we were today taking photos in the same location, but instead of holding Sarah’s belly, they were snuggling Baby Eli (previously playing the role of baby bump). This certainly made the trip to Boston to meetup with Laura and Michael to take some engagement photos around their stomping grounds all the more worth it. And this before got to spend the afternoon with two fantastic people. We had a blast wondering around with their perfectly photogenic dog Zoey (who was one of the best listeners, human or otherwise ;-) ).

The State Room Wedding Photography

Rachael and Zach won the jackpot for best fall foliage this wedding season, which is rare for November. We were able to do all of their photos outside around the picturesque plaza in 60 degree weather. When they were done, we headed to the State Room for these two to get hitched. They had a lovely personalized ceremony that featured readings and vows from “Game of Thrones” and “Parks and Rec”, which shows what great taste they have.

If rain is good luck for a wedding, Ashley and Dan’s marriage will be blessed for years to come. The two did get outside for their first look though, underneath an overhang. From there, we headed back inside to the brewery for some shots. The ballroom was beautifully decorated with fall flowers and decor not to mention an adorable doggy bag table that was literally take home treats and toys for people’s dogs.

We knew when Heather and Eric came to visit us that they were going to have a very fun wedding and it did not disappoint. The ballroom dripped with an Edgar Allen Poe theme as Heather walked down the aisle to “Pure Imagination” from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. After the two were wed, Heather kicked off the party with a change into an amazing red dress. Before dinner the two danced for the first time as husband and wife to Adam Sandler which was followed by two really sweet toasts.

We just adore Maggie and Jay. From bride and groom, to bridal party VIP, to parents-to-be, we have had a lot of fun capturing special moments for these two. It is especially sweet to do the shoot in the park where we took pictures on their wedding day. We are so excited for their little one to make her debut next month, and it sounds like Jay and Maggie (especially Maggie) are ready to meet her!

Jimbo's Club Wedding Phtoography

Yesterday we took a scenic drive up to Brant Lake to photograph and celebrate the marriage of Emily and Lenny. We met them both two years ago when they were the maid of honor and best man at her sister’s and his cousin’s wedding. Now that their turn to be married had arrived, they couldn’t have chosen a more perfect location, date, and partner for the occasion. They were wed on the water’s edge with a view of the gold and green speckled mountains and the sound of waves lapping on the shore.

90 State Street Wedding Photography

Kathleen and Ian had a gorgeous day for their wedding… we joked that it only took a large order of umbrellas as their insurance policy to scare away the rain in the forecast. We started our day by checking in with the bride and groom, in this case, only a door away, where both sides of the bridal party were in good spirits (and quite punctual!) in their preparations. We headed up the hill to the Capitol Building for the first look.

Linsey and Tom got married on the hottest day so far this year and we are pretty sure the love for them and each other on this day most likely contributed to the warmth. We started our day checking in with them at the Desmond where both were preparing for their big day. We headed over to the Crossings Park for their first look, where once they had their special moment, their dog, Dante was included to have a moment of his own with his parents.

I guess April showers sometimes bring even more May showers in addition to beautiful flowers. We headed out on this drizzly Saturday to check in with Rachel and Chris at their perspective getting ready spots. At the church, the two were wed in a beautiful ceremony where the priest reminded everyone that rain is a great symbol of nourishment for life and growth, and therefore is the perfect backdrop for a wedding day.

We met up with Gina and Rob about a year ago in the city for their engagement shoot. At that point the wedding seemed so far away, but in the blink of an eye it was here, warm weather and all! And what a beautiful day it was. When we stopped in to see Gina and her bridesmaids, we walked into a sea of matching pink button down shirts, all attending to their last minute details.

Grace and Gregory had the perfect backdrop for a winter wedding: a coating of snow on the ground and a “balmy” above freezing temperature. After a sweet first look, the bridal party braved the cold to help showcase this winter wedding, which was quite different than their warm weathered engagement shoot in the park! The two were married in the ornate, marble ballroom of 60 State in a beautiful ceremony among friends and family.

Emily and Patrick were married on a beautiful February day in a ceremony at the Sagamore surrounded by friends and family. They had a breathtaking first look (literally and figuratively) on the hotel’s deck overlooking the gorgeous winter view of Lake George. Their guests were treated to a dinner, dances, and toasts, before they made their way to the dance floor where moves were displayed that I had never seen before.

The two were married at the State Room among family and friends by Brian’s childhood friend. After cocktail hour, the bridal party cut loose with some fun dances and poses during introductions. The first dance had the whole crowd misty-eyed as they swayed to a cover of the Growing Pains theme song.

If you plan a December wedding in New York, part of you has to be rooting for snow. And that’s just what Shannon and Andrew got for their big day, a beautiful light blanket of snow as a backdrop for their big day. We really couldn’t ask for a more perfect way to end our wedding season than with Kelly and Alfred’s fairytale and superhero themed wedding. From Kelly’s Cinderella dress and gold shoes, to the groomsmen’s superhero boutonnieres and assuming a super hero landing for photos, to the perfect reading from The Princess Bride followed by the song “So This Is Love” from Cinderella in their ceremony, to pumpkin decoration that were just a wish away from assuming stage coaches, these two had these themes covered.

Month ago we put this mid-October date on the calendar to meet Rachel and Chris for an engagement shoot. At the time, we were hoping we’d be able to find some trees that still had their leaves. Well, we had a different challenge yesterday: finding leaves that had already turned! We walked around Chris’s parents’ property, enjoying a beautiful sunny day and scouting out trees that started to show signs of what has turned out to be a very late fall.

Century House Wedding Photography

Kierstin and Tom hit the weather jackpot for an outdoor tent wedding at the Century House in mid-October. The rain tapered off and the sun was doing its first look as the day as these two were doing theirs. We first met the ladies while they were getting dolled up, and by the time she was finished, Kierstin looked like a classic movie star. Over in the groomsmen’s room, the laughs were flowing amid youtube videos as they crammed for their test in how to tie a double Windsor knot in a tie and toasts to share a special beer together.

Danielle and Alan are an amazing couple that truly made their wedding day their own. Dani made the signs, place cards, and other personal touches around the ceremony and reception, even making a swing that hung near the ceremony! Their personalities ran through the ceremony as well, from incorporating Chinese customs, to vows that included lyrics from the Backstreet Boys. The two were wed amid a light but perpetual sprits of rain that I can only assume was luck misting them throughout the day.

Tara and Josh are such a lovely couple, who chose lovely people to be with, at a lovely place, on a lovely September day for their wedding. We started the day by checking in with the ladies. As they got ready, everyone helped out with a safety pin here and a hair touch up there; even the bride was seen steaming and zipping up her ladies’ dresses. It was there that we also met flower girl, Reagan, who let it be know right away that she was in direct running with the bride for most photographs to be taken of her that day.

The sight of the beautiful mountains across the lake, the sound of the waves lapping up on the shore as boats, filled with waving passengers cheering on the wedding, passed by; the smell of freshly popped popcorn in the air; and of course the taste of wedding cake baked and decorated with love by Frances’s brother and mother.

Albany Urban Decay Photography

Our latest installment of our urban decay project has a bit of a backstory. Lauren (as seen in these pictures) has had a hate affair with this ugly eyesore of a building since she’s moved to Albany. I must agree that when heading down 787 entering Albany, it certainly distracts from an otherwise attractive skyline. So in the spirit of finding art and beauty in the ugly (and it doesn’t get uglier than this) we headed into the building that’s claim to fame is that it has survived having a raging fire within its structure for several days straight and came out on the other side pretty much looking the same.

Anyone at this wedding could tell you that these two nailed their best day ever from getting ready with friends and family, to a ceremony filled with laughs and beautifully chosen words, to a fun photo shoot in Congress Park (that included a little “good luck” rain), to finally getting on that party bus and heading over to Pat’s Barn, where the two could celebrate their new chapter together.

Erin and Justin had an amazing day for their wedding. We met up at Erin’s family home which we got to after many twists and turns through some breathtaking country roads. After some shots there, we headed to the church in Corinth where we met up with Justin and his groomsmen. After a very sweet ceremony, it was off to Congress Park where the bridal party saddled up to take a few spins on the carousel.

The State Room Wedding Photography

I must say, the following are signs that you photographed an amazing wedding 1. You can’t stop laughing as you go through trying to rate photos 2. You can’t possibly pick just a few highlights and 3. You find yourself grinning from ear to ear as you edit away thinking just how happy the couple looks. Kara and Griffin’s wedding exceeded all three of these criteria. We got a chance to get to know these two back when we did an engagement session in Central Park and Brooklyn, so it we just picked up where we left off.

Sunitha and Shante did their wedding the way you are supposed to which is to find out what makes you happy and fill your special day with just that. And that’s what they did. Non-traditional at its finest. Not only did they do a first look for the couple, but for our first time ever, we did a first look of the cake. (No, really, it was THAT amazing… I think the first cake ever to make the blog!

Key Hall Wedding Photography

Erica and Alex had a beautiful wedding day. The weather cooperated and got all of the rain out of its system before the festivities began. The two had their first look by the vault at Key Hall and then we were off with the bridal party to Jay Street for some pictures. Erica and Alex were then married in the presence of friends, family and stormtroopers. After a light saber arch exit (accompanied by the Little Mermaid theme song to make sure both halves of this marriage were represented), the two officially were ready to kick off their shoes (literally, Erica quickly made a switch to flip flops) and the party started.

Well, sometimes you can’t trust the weather forecast! Looked like the 0% chance rain was a bit closer to 100%. But that didn’t keep Rhianna and Ryan away and I always say, don’t be too afraid of rain on your wedding day (or engagement in this case). Needless to say we were able to get some cool rain shots, nice diffused lighting throughout, and it actually stopped long enough for us to venture into the woods.

We couldn’t have wrapped up this long weekend with a nicer couple. We caught up with Janis and George while they were both getting ready. Evidence of Janis’s handiwork was all over their home. Of all the brides and grooms we’ve worked with over the years, Allison and Dan win the award for most punctual couple. Their day was clockwork and transitions were seamless. We thought we were booked for 2016, but when Iain and Matt shared that they had plans to jump into the lake after their marriage vows, we just knew we had to be there. And we are so happy we were, because these two planned an epic wedding from homemade bow ties and boutonnieres, to adorable dogs, to a breathtaking backdrop (which HAPPENED to be the site of where they first met), to games galore (kicked off with rock, paper, scissors for who would say their vows first and ended with the Ian & Matt trivia game), to great music mixed by DJ Vin (which of course led to great dancing), to great food, including the best dessert we’ve had on record (grooms-made pies and a signature ice cream flavor for the happy couple).

We enjoyed a nice winter’s drive up to Southern Vermont College to do an engagement shoot for Kayleigh and Aaron. It was a great spot; not only did it have sentimental value being the place these two met, but it also had gorgeous grounds. It was a bit chilly but these two, as well as their dog, Dempsey, were great sports being in the cold.
