Altamont Engagement Photography

Month ago we put this mid-October date on the calendar to meet Rachel and Chris for an engagement shoot. At the time, we were hoping we’d be able to find some trees that still had their leaves. Well, we had a different challenge yesterday: finding leaves that had already turned! We walked around Chris’s parents’ property, enjoying a beautiful sunny day and scouting out trees that started to show signs of what has turned out to be a very late fall.

Albany Engagement Photography

We can barely call this work when a great couple we know asks us to do engagement photos at one of our favorite places, Wolf’s Biergarten! But it doesn’t stop there, throw into the mix an adorable dog, a beautiful day, some intriguing dancers by the Egg, an introduction of a new favorite beer, and lots of laughs. Thanks for a memorable shoot, guys! We are looking forward to all the fun you have in store on your wedding day!

Schenectady Engagement Photography

We had a great time getting to know Shannon and Andrew during their engagement session. We arrived at their house where we met their adorable dog, Ella, and then we were off to shoot in Central Park. We chatted about their wedding plans, beer lists, and teaching schedules amid the beautiful gardens. They are such a great couple and we can’t wait to capture all of their fun and celebration on their not-so-distant wedding day!

Grace + Greg

Albany Engagement Photography

We had a wonderful time during our engagement shoot with Grace and Greg who made the trip all the way from DC. The weather was perfect as we walked around downtown trying to find some nice Albany architecture backdrops. We caught up on the progress of their wedding plans for next March and mused at what these same scenes will look like then. Whatever the day will bring, we are so looking forward to working with this awesome couple again!

New York City Engagement Photography

We had a great time strolling through the Upper West Side and Central Park with future bride and groom, Gina and Rob. It was a beautiful day and the flowers were in bloom, from the community garden around the corner from their apartment to the cherry blossoms bursting in Central Park. After poking around some of the nooks and crannies of the park, we had a lovely dinner at a neighborhood restaurant and headed out again for some fun night shots in the city.

Beth + James

Troy Urban Decay Photography

We decided to make the most of this gorgeous sunny day by dusting off our cameras and heading over to Troy to shoot another set in our Urban Decay series with the fun and “up for anything” couple, Beth and James. We had a blast discussing photography and their upcoming wedding as we trekked through the snow of this old industrial park. The wind brought a bit of a chill (and the stench of dead skunk) but there was beauty to be found here…the colorful graffiti, the blinding light, and of course this adorable couple sure helped.

Kaitlin + Matt

Saratoga Springs Engagement Photography

It was such a treat to go just a bit north of Saratoga to visit Matt’s picturesque property. The barns and views were such a great back drop that we were joking that they could charge photographers to do their shoots there. It was fun to hear about Matt’s memories as we walked through many parts of the property that has shown time gone by. We also got to meet Herby and Rider, their four-legged babies, who truly enjoyed prancing around the property.

Thatcher Park Engagement Photography

We have been pretty lucky with how awesome all our couples are. Lauren and Jason are no exception. They have been together for eight years! And it shows with how comfortable they are with each other. And they were patient with my sometimes quirky attempts to get photos (including climbing a tree and crawling under a bridge). I am so looking forward to their wedding next year.

Tara + Joshua

Saratoga Springs Engagement Photography

We had a lot of fun hopping around Saratoga with Tara and Joshua on a beautiful fall afternoon. Congress Park certainly offered its challenges with constant attempts by ducks trying to upstage them. (We struggled to get a reflection shot without a duck skimming the water or sticking its but in the air to search for food.) After the park, we walked through downtown Saratoga as we both scoped out contenders for a restaurant for dinner.

Oneonta Engagement Photography

We had a great time hitting the road to meet Leah and Pat at SUNY Oneonta where they first met in college many moons ago. After walking around the student union we continued to walk down memory lane down on Main St. in Oneonta. This couple was so much fun to work with and were even willing to work for some shots like climbing a fire escape and and hopping onto a wall.

Rhianna + Ryan

Saratoga State Park Engagement Photography

Well, sometimes you can’t trust the weather forecast! Looked like the 0% chance rain was a bit closer to 100%. But that didn’t keep Rhianna and Ryan away and I always say, don’t be too afraid of rain on your wedding day (or engagement in this case). Needless to say we were able to get some cool rain shots, nice diffused lighting throughout, and it actually stopped long enough for us to venture into the woods.

Kat + Andy Engagement

Saratoga Springs Engagement Photography

Spring is here! And with spring comes engagements. What a great Sunday it was to head up to Saratoga with Kat and Andy and their adorable two dogs. We started at the always beautiful Yado Gardens and after I freaked out when a snake slithered in front of me, we headed to the snake free downtown Saratoga. I am looking forward to this wedding later this summer.

Kayleigh & Aaron

Southern Vermont College Engagement Photography

We enjoyed a nice winter’s drive up to Southern Vermont College to do an engagement shoot for Kayleigh and Aaron. It was a great spot; not only did it have sentimental value being the place these two met, but it also had gorgeous grounds. These two were fun to work with and caught us up on some of the fascinating history of this spot… human sacrifices and all! It was a bit chilly but these two, as well as their dog, Dempsey, were great sports being in the cold.

Abbey + Barret

Thatcher Park Engagement Photography

It was a chilly day up at Thatcher Park, but the picturesque, snow-covered views and this lovely couple were worth trekking into the cold. We started at the overlook and then made our way to a place these two like to picnic for a hot chocolate break, then finished off by the Indian Ladder trailhead. It is ironic that Abbey and Barret chose these conditions for their shoot as they will be getting married in Texas in a few months.

Barns of Nipmoose Engagement Photography

There are no shortage of beautiful places to do an engagement shoot in the Albany area so I guess it is no surprise we haven’t shot at the Historic Barns of Nipmoose before. We weren’t sure what to expect as we made the trek out on the long, windy country roads to get there. It turns out Jackie and Brian found quite a gem. And we found quite a gem of a couple!

Maggie + Jay

Saratoga Springs Engagement Photography

What a great day to head up to Saratoga, meet Maggie and Jay at their apartment, and walk around taking shots. When these two were planning for their engagement session, they thought they would feature their new coats, but with 70 degree weather, the coats stayed behind for most of the shoot. We hit all the hot Saratoga spots, and even some hidden spots that Jay knew about. We also made a visit to Ben and Jerry’s where these two spent some time scooping ice cream together.

Kara + Griffin

The State Room Wedding Photography

There seem to be two ways to take photos in Central Park: Use a selfie stick or have us come down. I am sure glad Kara and Griffin chose the later (I am wondering when they make a selfie stick that can hold an SRL though). Although we have been to NYC many times (Heather actually lived there for a year), this was our first engagement shoot down in the city and we were pretty excited.

Nichole + Matt Engaged

Troy Engagement Photography

I love adventurous couples. First, when we met we told them about our urban decay project and that Carrie at Rev Hall showed me the upstairs there, they were: “let’s do that.” Then, when I contacted them on Friday to what they wanted to do with the rain coming in, they were: “no, let’s do it anyway.” This sets the scene for some awesome photos in my book. Add two amazing people who are obviously so in love, and you get this blog post.

Shayna + Mike

Engagement Photography

One of our favorite things is when bridesmaids become brides. Shayna was Hailey’s maid of honor from a wedding we did last year and I was so happy to visit her family’s home to shoot their engagement. A beautiful mix of wide vistas with old cars made for some interesting backdrops. And special props need to be given to Shayna who put with Mike (a fellow wedding videographer) and I talking shop.

Amelia + Kyle

Lake George Engagement Photography

Tis the season for engagement sessions. Amelia and Kyle are first up at the beautiful Sagamore in Lake George. You can tell when a couple has been together for a while and just get each other. They have a certain comfort around each other and I really hope it shows in these photos. And I must give a shout out to Amelia for rocking those awesome shoes for the entire shoot!

Celeste + Dan

Albany Engagement Photography

Well, we found another adventurous couple willing to explore our Urban Decay project. This time we we brought Celeste and Dan to Tobin’s First Prize Center, an abandoned hot dog factory. Apparently the animals to be slaughtered used to roam in the fields right behind the property. These days it is quite shy of a first prize though. If anyone is interested in a bit of its history, All Over Albany did a story on this dilapidated building a few years back.

Lua + Dan Engaged

Saratoga Springs Engagement Photography

Saratoga was the perfect location for Lua and Dan’s engagement shoot. It is a special place to them since it is where Dan proposed to Lua, and he certainly went above and beyond to ask for her hand (including a limo, a scavenger hunt, and a future mother in law!) And what a day they had! Their dog Raven came along for the shoot and joined in for a few pictures at the park.

Ashley + Chuck

Saratoga Springs Engagement Photography

Where do you shoot a couple involved with Park Playhouse? You go to SPAC of course! Ashley and Chuck braved the potential rain for what turned out to be a beautiful morning. After spending sometime a SPAC and the Hall of Springs we headed over to the always beautiful Yaddo Gardens in Saratoga, where Chuck showed off some of his dance poses. These two were so fun and I truly cannot wait for their wedding next year at Revolution Hall.

St John's Church: Project Urban Decay

Urban Decay Photograph

Remember a couple weeks ago when we were looking for an adventurous couple to work on a new project idea? Well, Jackie and Jared were two brave souls who trusted us to take them into an atypical shoot location: inside an abandoned church. We wanted to capture beautiful images in a place where neglect, decay, and an era gone by was palpable. They were very good sports considering the condition of this place.

Victoria + Jason

Albany Engagement Photography

We are always asked where to do a photoshoot. Our general answer is someplace that is special to you. We can find great spots almost anywhere, and it sure wasn’t hard at Jason’s parents house. Add in a beautiful couple, great weather, nice grounds, and couple of horses and this is what you get. Can’t wait to shoot this couple again this time next year. Congratulations Tori and Jason!
